When you’re working with a multilingual student who is attempting to write a story in English, the heaviest portion of the writing process will be focused on pre-writing. This stage is all about front-loading students with vocabulary, phrases, and sentence structures that they can use in their writing. I share many front-loading strategies on my blogpost here.
One of my favorite pre-writing strategies is to generate word lists with key words to describe details of their story! Use this word list page to help your student discover more details in their personal narrative story, including the 5 senses, characters, and setting. They can use these words to draft their story later.

If you’re looking for more graphic organizers and resources to help you with drafting personal narratives, find the rest of this Personal Narrative Writing Kit here. There is even a digital version that can be completed on Google Slides!
